How do I know if my heat pump leaks?

There are two methods of testing to see whether your heat pump leaks. 
  • Switch off the heat pump but leave the swimming pool pump on. Did the water dry up within a couple of hours? That means there is no leak in the heat pump. 
  • You can also test the water around the heat pump with a chlorine test strip. Does the water around the heat pump have a different chlorine level to the pool water? That means there is probably no leak in the heat pump.
